The Coats of Mad Men

As summer turns to autumn, my thoughts turn to coats, one of my many passions. So here is a look at the coats of Mad Men, for what era did coats better than the 1960s? My coat collection includes three vintage beauties from this era-a very glamorous silk lined gold sequined coat, a tapestry princess coat, and a fox trimmed black evening coat. See the last three photos. Be on the lookout in vintage stores for 1960s coats. Please don't forget your gloves whatever you do. And make sure to visit my post today on the Chinoiserie living room of Don and Betty Draper-click here.

LOL. So I am in SERIOUS trouble since I haven't had a chance to watch all the Mad Men seasons since this morning :) But I am repentant!! Especially after seeing these fabulous coats, and the amazing chinoiserie! Reminds me so much of that tan FABULOUS Kate Spade coat from last season in all the ads - big buttons and cuffs, tie waist. Remember that one? I need to get out my grandmother's leather elbow length gloves and try these looks. They're so elegant.

Wonderful post on a wonderful show. Yes, Mad Men is definitely the show of choice in our house. The stylist for this show are amazing. They get the details down so well--even the wrist watches.

Beth, I think you should switch professions and be a curator at a fashion museum! Your own personal collection is amazing.

I actually remember my mom and dad wearing these styles so they certainly resonate with me. I love gloves and think they make such perfect sense right now.....especially when traveling.

Sande-Oh oh-I wear these styles now and I wear gloves all year long.
