We Won!

Here are Kate, Izzy, and I before the festivities began last night at the Dog Halloween Costume Party at the Hotel Monaco in Alexandria, Virginia. We are all dressed as Coco Chanel. It was a great night, with several hundred people attending and about 70 dogs competing. Izzy was the returning champion, Most Glamorous Dog, having won last year. We all strutted our stuff last night on the runway and Izzy once again won Most Glamorous Dog. Hooray! We won a fabulous weekend and dinner at the very swank Morrison House in Old Town, Alexandria. Since it is a dog friendly hotel, Kate, Izzy, and I will all have a great weekend getaway to look forward to. There were lots of press there, so I hope to post some better pictures tomorrow. Thanks to the Hotel Monaco and the judges for their great taste!

Halloween Style Redux II

I will be going to two Halloween parties this year. On Thursday, my daughter and co-blogger Kate, my Tibetan Spaniel Isabella "Izzy" and I will be going to the swank Dog Halloween Costume Party at the Hotel Monaco in Alexandria, Virginia. Alexandria is a very dog friendly city, with most businesses open to dogs with fresh water and treats. All three luxury hotels in Alexandria are dog friendly. Last year there was a huge turnout at the Hotel Monaco with press and celebrity judges and dozens of dogs competing. Here is Izzy last year when she won Most Glamorous Dog-please note the Chanel coat, Chanel flower pin, and Louis Vuitton handbag. This year, Kate, Izzy, and I are all going as Coco Chanel in black and white Chanel inspired outfits. Photos to come of course. Saturday I will be attending a private party. I always like wearing a beautiful black dress and long gloves with a great hat or headband. Here are four great ideas from my collection. A wonderful vintage clock hat-I can go as "Time" or a "Clock." My new Louis Vuitton bunny ears to be a very stylish "Bunny." Two spider hats for a very glamorous "Spider." Click on the photo to enlarge. Which do you like? Any Halloween parties on the horizon for you and what will you wear?

Anthropologie Dressed-Down Bib Necklace

I've been admiring this necklace for quite some time now. I think the silk, crystal, and pearl details are incredibly lovely. This piece will add instant pizzazz to an outfit whether you decide to go casual with jeans and a t-shirt, or party it up!

Anthropologie in a Jar

I'm sure you've noticed that Anthropologie stores smell better than any place on earth-it's true, isn't it? Well, after some sleuthing, I have found that the answer is the Capri Blue Candles they sell and usually have burning in the stores. Although they come in several fragrances, the favorite at the many Anthropologie stores I have visited, and after talking to many store managers, is the Volcano which is composed of tropical fruits, sugared oranges, lemons, limes, and exotic mountain greens. I bought a candle and it is incredible. The wonderful scent lingers for hours even when you are not burning it. This same candle comes in many sizes and containers. The scent is citrusy, fresh, clean, and not too girly. Quite unisex actually. A perfect Christmas or hostess gift. (A wonderful idea for your guy's apartment)

Found Feathers

Did you see see our post yesterday on feathers? Feathers are all over the runways and stores, and here are some feathered treasures I found in my own closet-a boa, headbands, and vintage hats. Click on the pictures for more detail-the colors are so pretty!

Even a feathered pillow on my couch.

I think I'm all ready for this look! One feathered piece I may add this season-this wonderful J.Crew Marabou Clutch.
