Polka Dotted Tights

Dot tights are all the rage this fall. Emanuel Ungaro went funky with silver metallic dots, while Balenciaga kept it simple with black sheer ones. There are so many options when it comes to dots, which is great news for polka dot lovers. I might just be the only woman in D.C. who loves wearing standout tights. I have hope that many of the city's fabulous fashionistas will warm up to the idea of patterned tights because it's one of winter's best accessories. I read that Tim Gunn thinks so too! See, all the more reason to get on board.

Trend: Lace for fall

Lace is one of the most romantic and seductive trends for the season. I think Valentino and Stella McCartney did the most exquisite job with lace this season. The lace masks at Valentino are personal favorites of mine. I secretly want to dress up like this every single day. Black lace in particular makes such a beautiful statement. I've chosen a few pieces that would be positively dashing for the holidays.

J.Crew's website brings me an immense amount of joy because I often find gorgeous pieces that aren't carried in the store. Pattern is a big trend for this fall and winter, a great way to break out of the monochromes of blacks and grays and browns. This Ikat pattern is sensational. Gloves In the Spotlight

Gloves are a big trend this fall/winter season. I love gloves-these are some from my collection. They include turquoise, hot pink, gold, trims of patent, mink, flowers, a ring, ruching, ombre, and two-tone. Click on the picture to enlarge. When you are shopping for a new pair, have fun with them. The hot trends in gloves include metallics-especially gold, opera length, color, and embellishment. The stores are filled with wonderful choices. You won't believe how a great pair of gloves can dress up an outfit.

The Tutti Fruitti collection of handbags by Kate Spade are ridiculously cute! I live for quilted patent and the vibrant colors they come in are wonderful. The Maddie and the MaryAnne are full of personality yet classic at the same time. The chartreuse is absolutely beautiful up close and personal. And the buttons on the handles are such a fun detail. I think a bright handbag can really punch up a winter ensemble. Wouldn't you agree?
