Color Popping

Louise Markey, an up and coming womenswear designer, competed in London's Fashion Fringe in 2008. Though Markey was not the selected winner of the competition, she was a finalist. Markey certainly has beautiful skills to bring to the table. Her designs are full of personality and life. LF Markey is the name of the fashion company she launched. These dresses of hers have attitude, which is a quality I find myself searching for in fashion. I admire clothes that make a statement and reveal something about the person wearing them. A woman in one of these dresses is playful and adventurous, modern and fresh. The color blocking, volume, and shapes of Markey's creations is awe-inspiring. Please be sure to visit Markey here.

  1. These are cute, but I wonder they would translate onto "real" figures? After all, how many girls what that much extra volume around their hips?

  2. The colors are great - especially like the purple skirt with folds of black and tan.

  3. Averill- You make a good point. Most women aren't too keen on adding more volume to their waist/hips. While I'm not as skinny as these models, I'm small and have fun playing up my hips every now and then. I even own a petticoat! :)

  5. I read that her fashion muses are Tilda Swindon and Bjork. She has a great eye for color and shape.

  8. Very nice! She's like Nicolas Ghequiere's sister in design. Very Balenciaga, don't you think?
