Harem pants can be tricky. There's the harem that is excessively baggy in the crotch, which I've tried on and want to love, but I feel like they shorten my legs by a couple inches. I'm 5' 7 mind you, so I figure you either have to be super tall or wear them with wickedly high heels. Not to mention they're a little too "I Dream of Jeannie" for my taste. But never the one to give up on a fashion quest, I found some incredible harem pants that are both stylish and figure flattering. A couple are way out of my fashion budget (aka the YSL jumpsuit!), but it's the idea that I like most. You won't look silly or feel self-conscious in these. What I like about the harem is its versatility. The harem short and harem jumper are adorably trendy too. Throw on a blazer and heels for a sleek and chic day at work. Or pair them with gladiator sandals and a fitted tank for an afternoon out strolling about and running errands.

I can't decide if this is for me...maybe I'll give them a try. They do look cute in pictures. Except for the guy....I don't know about that one.
ReplyDeleteThese are some really great images. They make a style I could not ponder...well, something I might ponder. I still think I would look like I was standing at the alterations place and the lady ran to the bathroom before finishing the pants. The more subtle ones could work. Hmmmm......I bet you would look way cute. Annoying....
ReplyDeleteI'm in awe - but I know I could never pull these off. Another great trend leaves me in the dust.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the hilarious comment on the Norma Kamali post - I burst out laughing. Hope I haven't scarred you forever :)
bluehydrangea- you should give 'em a try! I'm still a little hesitant myself, but you could start with a simple pair like the drawstring pant by Silence & Noise. Or head to someplace like Zara, where you can find cute ones starting for under $40.
ReplyDeleteg.- What I like about this trend is that it's a new twist on pants. You should definitely try a more subtle pair. There are so many different styles of harems out there---you might find a pair that grabs you.
ReplyDeleteSanity Fair- Thanks--- this is one of my favorite trends this season. You're right though--- you really do have to feel comfortable in a look such as this. Otherwise it'll feel forced.
ReplyDeletehttp://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=47365&pid=662984 Banana Republic does harem pants! (or something pretty darn close)
ReplyDeleteSanity Fair-- Those satin pants are very cute. They look so comfortable. I was actually checking out the heritage collection just last night on banana. There are some great pieces.
