Is Pink by Definition Girly?
Most men say they do not like pink in decorating because it is too girly. I think men secretly love pink. Here are some wonderful examples of modern, chic, sophisticated rooms from Domino Magazine with pink-whether it's a ceiling painted pink, a fabulous pink French daybed, pale tinted pink walls, or some great accents pieces in pink. Some of my tricks for successfully using this color in your home-use some black in the room to ground it, leather and tiger rugs give it a masculine edge, pink is gorgeous with celadon green and ice blue. Read my post Pink is the New Black for some more ideas on incorporating pink in your home.

I'm with you on pink and men secretly liking it. I did a post on pink called Girly Girl and it was one of my favorites. Thanks for the dose of pink today.
ReplyDeleteSande-I also loved your post Pink Blush. Your blog is a feast for the eyes. Thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteMy husband is a not-so-secret lover of pink. I kind of have to keep quiet about the fact that I like it too! I let him pick the colors for two of our bathrooms and guess what color he selected - PINK!Your photos are gorgeous - I can't wait until I'm at the actual decorating stage.
ReplyDeleteCyndy-Sounds like you have a great husband. I'll enjoy following your blog as these develop.
ReplyDeleteCyndy-P.S. Check out this post of mine- Beautiful Baths-the pink bath is the master bath that the husband and wife both love.
ReplyDeleteLove this. LOVE pink....always. These are such good images.....and I think you are right about pink and men. Good observation!!!!
ReplyDeleteg.-I have always loved pink. I grew up in a Danish modern house where I had a white canopy bed with all pink!
ReplyDeleteNo...it's not exclusively girly. If you use it sparingly it can actually be very masculine I think.
ReplyDeleteColumnist-I couldn't agree more. And I adore a man in a pink shirt or tie.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love pink! My wedding's motif was strawberry pink and chocolate brown and it was my hubby who suggested it!
ReplyDeleteThis was such a pretty post. My eyes were so happy! May I write about it in my blog? And get one photo?
Frances-Of course. Blogging is all about getting ideas and inspiration from other bogs. I appreciate your following Style Redux and Chinoiserie Chic.
ReplyDeleteI love pink; alas though, I'm still working on my husband to get on board with it. He's all for purple, but for some reason he still has a mental block against pink...but he does at least wear the pink dress shirt I bought him now (and he looks fabulous in it -- pink suits his black hair/blue eyes and very fair skin).
ReplyDeleteAs for home decor, pink walls are also very flattering -- any color with rosy undertones does wonders for the skin.
Averill-I purposely married someone color blind so I could have carte blanche-or maybe he's just oblivious. ;) But you're right, everyone looks good in a pink room.
ReplyDeleteMy husband loved our pink bedroom we had when we were first married...he always said it felt like he was sneaking into my bedroom at my parents house!! Tee Hee!
ReplyDeleteThe Antiques Diva-That's so cute-a male friend emailed me and said men like pink rooms because it reminds them of women.
ReplyDeleteThese are stunning. Loved the pink ceiling!
ReplyDeleteCarolina-Isn't that a great idea? That's the living room of Nick Olsen-his blog link is on my blog roll.
