Going Green the Couture Way

If you think green and couture can't be used in the same sentence, think again. This amazing furniture, found at Chair Couture, is incredible. The designer, Margaret Elman, recycles vintage furniture into works of art. She takes French antiques circa 1900s and reupholsters them in digitally printed fabrics inspired by nature. Pictured below are the grass chair, dandelion bed, and the pool chaise. The eco-wearable clothing below is by visual artist Nicole Dextras. She describes Weedrobes as a series of ephemeral sculptures linking our bodies and the environment. The gowns are made of leaves, flowers, and branches. She has a web site where you can see her portfolio and prints are available.

  1. I love it all. I think it's brilliant taking French antiques and making them modern and edgy.
