No one adores pink more than the fabulous and funky Betsey Johnson. Her New York apartment is a great inspiration. This space is all about having fun and enjoying life as a girl. This place could lift your spirits even on the gloomiest of days. It's a lovely escape. I'm obsessed with all the pink. In fact, I can't get enough. It's stylish, romantic, and bright. The use of black, yellow, and white in Betsey's rooms beautifully complements the pink walls. I love the gorgeous flower arrangements throughout the home, especially in the bathroom. How fun would playing dress up and hosting tea parties in Barbie's dream house be?

Does Betsey's home reflect her fashion style? Most definitely. Her clothes are dreamy, romantic, playful, and cheerful just like her darling abode.

Halloween 2009

Here are Kate and I getting ready to go out to our Halloween parties last night. Kate is a very stylish cat in her Betsey Johnson dress and lace cat mask. I am wearing a favorite designer Lida Baday with my pink Louis Vuitton bunny ears. Hope everyone had a stylish and fun Halloween. I love playing dress up.

Betsey, Kate, and Me

Kate and I had a great time last night meeting Betsey Johnson at the Georgetown store in D.C. We had a chance to talk to her about Style Redux and she was so impressed that Kate was wearing a Betsey Johnson leopard coat and I was wearing a Betsey Johnson pearl necklace. She told Kate that coat was one of her favorite pieces and collections ever. She is so adorable and fun in person, and is such an inspiration that one can be so full of life, fun, and fashion at any age-she is 67! Kate and I have always been fans of her feminine and whimsical styles, very influenced by her love of dance. I am a complete sucker for black, pink, tulle, and petticoats, having danced ballet for many years. Here are some great photos of the evening-even the footwear was noteworthy.

Attention all D.C. area Betsey Johnson fans. Betsey will be at the Georgetown store tonight from 6 to 7 p.m. Kate and I will be there to meet her and get pictures. Hope to see you there!

Tulle

Tulle was all over the runways for this fall and it is a look I adore. But this approach is my absolute favorite-pairing a black tulle skirt with a dressy but covered up top that would be stunning from fall all the way through the holidays. I love this idea for this fall for fancy dinners out and dinner parties, but it is also ideal for holiday entertaining and parties. J.Crew is a great source for cashmere sweaters in an array of colors and dressy embellished tops. Betsey Johnson is an excellent source for her wonderful petticoats that can be worn as skirts. This an elegant and sophisticated look perfect for so many occasions. The Balmain outfit above and the Limi Feu below are wonderful examples.

Betsey Johnson-My Must Have for Fall

My must have accessories for updating my fall wardrobe are something purple-THE color this autumn and a petticoat to layer under dresses, skirts, and coats. What better choice that this wonderful purple petticoat by the always brilliant Betsey Johnson? How fabulous will this look peeking out of gray flannel, tweed, chocolate brown, or black? The list of what this will go with is endless. Wait until you see this color in person-it's a very elegant and understated deep smoky plum.

A gorgeous choice for the walls of a dining room, bedroom, powder room, study, anywhere! Not ready to commit to a whole room? Try a sofa, silk taffeta or velvet curtains, a leather ottoman, or a ceiling. Be on the lookout for a great piece in aubergine or plum to add to your wardrobe. Petticoat Girl

Nowadays I think twice before buying and adding things to my wardrobe. I ask myself, "Are you going to wear it at least ten times in the first few months?" If the answer is no, then I pass. A petticoat would be a fun purchase. It's actually something that's been on my mind for the past few weeks. That may be a sign to go ahead and buy one. I think I'd get good use out of one. Ever since seeing the full and poofy crinoline skirts in black, white, and pink at the Betsey Johnson store, I've wanted to get one of my own. A girl at Betsey came out of the dressing room wearing a strapless creation, with a petticoat peeking out, and it was just about the cutest thing ever. That would be a wonderful look for prom. I'm not sure I'd be willing to fork over $190 for theirs though, unless I wore it to death. There's one I found at Patricia Field that I like because of its neon layers. But it's not tulle, which means, I still may hold out until I find the perfect one. I'll show you a few petticoats I've found, most reasonably priced. While a petticoat looks great under a party dress, it can also be styled to create a classic and refined look.

Giambattista Valli- a timeless and graceful look is created when Valli uses petticoats in his spring 09' runway show.
