Ikat from J.Crew

Pattern is a big trend for this fall and winter, a great way to break out of the monochromes of blacks and grays and browns. This Ikat pattern is sensational. It combines the "It" looks of Ikat, pattern, orange, and aubergine all in one great new piece for your wardrobe. All from J.Crew, these would be perfect from now through the holidays and all through the winter season. I especially like the coat above with its Ikat design of reds, oranges, and aubergine, in silk and mohair.

Aubergine and Deep Plum II

With September here, my thoughts have turned to updating my fall wardrobe. I love all the aubergine and plum everywhere, but didn't think these were colors I had in my wardrobe. So I went shopping this morning in my closets and discovered all these hiding-a fabulous Marc Jacobs Stam bag, a vintage Schiaparelli hat, a Suzanne Bettley hat I bought in London, a dress from Anthropologie, and a necklace from Neiman Marcus. What's hiding in your closet? For more aubergine and plum inspiration, read this previous post here.

Aubergine and Deep Plum

From fashion to interior design, aubergine and deep plum are an elegant, sophisticated, and chic trend this fall. A gorgeous choice for the walls of a dining room, bedroom, powder room, study, anywhere! Not ready to commit to a whole room? Try a sofa, silk taffeta or velvet curtains, a leather ottoman, or a ceiling. Be on the lookout for a great piece in aubergine or plum to add to your wardrobe. Have you seen Betsey Johnson's new tiered skirt/petticoat in plum-to die for!
