I thought everyone might enjoy some lovely hats from this week's Ascot races. In the Royal Enclosure, ladies are required to wear appropriate formal day dress and must wear a hat or substantial fascinator. Gentleman must be attired in black or gray morning dress including waistcoat and top hat.

Wonder if the lovely Kate Middleton was in attendance??? I do think the British paps would've provided snaps if she had been...
ReplyDeleteI for one think she is SPOT on in terms of style and poise. HEL-LO William!?
MLHP-I am not a royals watcher, but I doubt she attended. I believe there is a whole protocol of no dates to official functions unless you are engaged.
ReplyDeleteBeth, thanks for sharing these - very interesting and lots of points to these ladies for creativity. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteAnne-I love the bowl of strawberries. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteIt always seems like a contest for the weirdest of all. Maybe I'm missing something. Why would anyone want to put something that looks like a spaceship on top of their head? Ha!

Quite fascinating when you actaully look at these creations....looks like they have fun with the tradition. There's that Queen of ours(she is our Queen here in Canada too)looking so dowdy!
ReplyDeleteFun photos. Ohh...to be a Brit!!
ReplyDeleteCatherine-I adore hats and have many as wild as these. At Ascot, to be photographed, unless you are a Royal, you need to have your hat large and unique. I think they're quite fun.
ReplyDeleteSande-You've got to love the Queen. I think all the hats are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteDumbwit Tellher-I'd like to be an American, but have everyone wear hats!
ReplyDeleteThese are amazing! These pieces are pure art and fashion combined. I would personally have a headache after 5 min. but I applaud these strong ladies~
ReplyDeleteSarah-I have many like these and they are quite light. Especially the fascinators and feather ones.
ReplyDeleteGreat fun, thanks!
ReplyDeleteAverill-I'll have to find these photos-but this year one hat was with licorice and last year one was a whole wheel of Stilton. Last time I came back from London, I carried on 3 enormous hats from Harrod's. Thankfully, they upgraded us to First Class!
ReplyDeleteThe only thing more fascinating than these hats is how they stay on!!! Fabulous selection. I had so much fun looking at these.
ReplyDeleteSF-They are wonderful. So British!
