The Perfect Summer Hat

This Lavendiere Chapeau, the traditional French straw hat worn by lavender harvesters, could not be more chic. With its long black ribbon that wraps around you, it won't be falling off the head either. At $48 and $64 (it comes in two sizes) from Bell'occhio, it is a steal. Wear it gardening or at the beach of course. But I am going to look stunning wearing it around town with a simple summer dress with the ribbon wrapped around like shown above. So simple and elegant and so French!

  6. Stefan-Thanks. I think you'd look great this summer in a boater or Panama hat.

  8. Gorgeous find, Beth -- and a great price to boot! I can just see myself on a beautiful beach in one of these and in a alluringly demure retro black one-piece.

  9. Fantastic summer hat! As far as more people wearing hats, I suppose it depends on were you live. I certainly have an affinity for hats and live by the motto "one can never have too many hats". In response to the gentleman who believes he looks ridiculous in hats, I would suggest going to a hat store (or if in Vintage stores) and trying on different styles of hats to see which one appeals to you. There are guides to shapes of faces to styles of hats, yet I feel it is something for you to decide. Most men are comfortable in fedoras or panamas (fedoras are available in various straws), and I would recommend to begin there. Then you can work your way to the daring boater (in summer of course).

    Hats on to you,
    ~N
