I love to wear beautiful gloves and I also love wearing statement bracelets, but in the winter I feel that I have to choose between the two. No more. An emerging fashion trend is jewelry worn over gloves. When I was growing up, this was a fashion no-no with the exception of a formal bracelet like a diamond bracelet worn over evening gloves. This look is shown below on Marilyn Monroe in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Today this trend is all over the runways and Vogue. The modern version shown above in a favorite Kate Spade ad works day or evening. Some tips-I think this is best with long leather gloves, statement bracelets, even 2 or 3, or for a different look, a large cocktail ring.

ReplyDeleteI love love love long gloves, but they're so hard to find. I did get a pair of long bronze ones at Target of all places, but my hands are so small that they don't fit quite right.

ReplyDeletebizarre-o that you posted this. i was just thinking i need some black leather gloves, but they never fit over my rings... i was remembering ladies of the 80s wearing their diamonds outside of their gloves on dynasty!
ReplyDeleteI've never been a big wearer of bracelets (I find they just get in my way and I end up taking them off), but I do love this look, especially when the gloves are long and the jacket sleeves are 3/4 or bracelet length.

The association of Gloves + Jewellry always remind me Audrey Hepburn, isn't she wearing diamonds upon beautiful black gloves when she eats croissants in Breakfast at Tiffany's ?
