A Fresh Start

The carpenter is due to arrive any minute to install the new door replacing the one kicked in during the burglary and my new Audi is safely ensconced in my garage. Life is beginning to return to normal....

A New Car

The good news is that I have decided on a new car-a Brilliant Black 2010 Audi A3 with black leather interior. I've always admired Audis but have never owned one. I want something small, European, and upscale, but with room in back for my many passions-gardening, shopping, flea marketing, and Costco. This fits the bill perfectly. The bad news is that I have to go deal with a car salesman today-truly one of life's worst experiences. When I get home I will no doubt require a shower and a stiff drink. Wish me luck.

My Dream Car

When I was growing up in Lake Forest, Illinois, despite the proximity to Detroit, American cars were considered declasse. Our town was filled with exotic foreign cars. One of my favorites was the stunning Citroen Maserati, a Citroen with a Maserati engine. It was also made in a shorter convertible racing version. With its Art Deco yet futuristic design, aircraft grade aluminum, and stainless steel bright work, it was truly a thing of beauty. It was only manufacture from 1970 to 1975. As I continue my search for a new car that actually excites me, I am reminded of these cars of yesteryear with such style and elegance.

A New Car

I spent the weekend looking for a new car. My last two cars have been Jaguars and with the demise of the S-Type, they've lost me. The XK is too little, the XJ is to old, and the XF is not a real Jag. What were they thinking getting rid of the hood jaguar on the XF? Nothing I've seen makes me weak at the knees and I grew up in a car crazed family-cars excite me. I'm leaning towards a BMW, but still on the fence. I love vintage cars. Today's cars just don't have the same style and elegance. Oh to drive a Porsche 911, an Aston Martin, a Karmann Ghia convertible in orange, a powder blue BMW 2002. What cars of today will become classics? It's hard to imagine except the Mini Cooper perhaps. Anyone driving something you just love? Do tell. I am in need of inspiration.
