The two of us saw Sex and the City 2 yesterday. We are huge fans and were so excited to see it opening day. Attired in our Chloe, Phillip Lim, and Marc Jacobs Stam bags, we certainly looked the part. Unfortunately, the movie was horrid. The plot was nonexistent, the dialogue was crass and vulgar, and the fashion was garish and tacky. No elegance, style, or sophistication to be found. Not even any fun. The four are a bit too old and frankly look it to be acting like such idiots. And since when did the setting for Sex and the City switch from New York City to Abu Dhabi? Do yourself a favor and hit the Memorial Day sales, then watch Sex and the City 1 again. You'll thank us.

We saw it yesterday too....sophomoric to say the least, and a huge two thumbs down! Oh well, I still loved seeing Big.
ReplyDeletefelt exactly the same way. The meaningful and lighthearted friendships between the ladies has always been the bedrock of SATC. The only decent example of that in the entire film was the "take a sip" scene with charlotte and miranda. Carrie and Big ended the film well with the black diamond bit but other than that...the clothes weren't so much fun as garish and cheap, the middle east "over the top" decor did nothing for me and I'm no prude but samantha's behavior was totally ugly american. why would anyone have done this to a great brand?
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen it yet, but just considering it I thought, "Aren't they all a little long in the tooth for these...adventures?" I am tired of Samantha's heavy handed sexual inneundos...and given her character...running a successful PR firm, she would be much more..focused...and at least witty. I hate that Sarah Jessica Parker's ego has to be given front and center all of the time. In every single ad promoting this film, her body is always overlaid over the others (see cover of Entertainment Weekly, for example.) One review I read said that they also drag (no pun) out every homophobic joke in the book at the wedding. If they can't come up with better material to suit their character's age and position in life, then they need to wrap their Manolo's in tissue and call it a day.
ReplyDeleteKelly-Big and Aidan!
ReplyDeleteDana-Well put-you nailed it.
ReplyDeleteWashington Cube-It was embarrassing.
ReplyDeleteThere was some pretty lingerie featured when Carrie was moping at home with Big.
