Sex and the City Fashion

The fashion in Sex and the City is unbeatable. I'll watch reruns ten years from now and will envy the beautiful clothes and accessories as much as I do now. Like many women Carrie Bradshaw is one of my beloved style icons. I always look forward to seeing what she'll be wearing next. She's a gal who keeps you on your toes. One of my favorite things about Carrie is that she styles her outfits in unexpected ways. She dresses for herself and I admire that about her. She knows how to have fun with fashion. Enjoying fashion by not taking it so seriously is an important rule to live by. I've learned that one's style can really evolve once you give yourself the freedom to be creative.

  1. That last dress will forever be one of my absolute favorite TV-style moments.

While I love Carrie's style, I actually always identified with Miranda's more (especially later on in the series, when they started dressing her a bit more femininely).

  3. Carrie wore so many things I adored. Two that come to mind were that voluminous evening gown in Paris (was that Cavalli? Dior? I can't remember) and wondering "How did she get THAT in her luggage?" The other was a tattered tulle coat she wore to meet the politican on Staten Island, and for some reason I thought that was Cavalli as well. I drooled over that ivory coat.

  4. The girls are all fashion beyond. Each look is unique, while I could never wear most of Carrie's ensembles, she has that joy de vivre.

  5. I agree, it's great that each girl has her own individual look, though Carrie's style is more interesting to me because it's rather more eclectic. However, I notice you've cut off her quirky Eiffel Tower bag - you can find the bag (and the full sized photo) at ShopCurious.

  6. Averill- I agree that Miranda's style became more feminine and stylish later in the show. I was especially impressed with her clothes in the SATC film.

I am so excited for the new movie!

Do you watch old episodes just for style inspiration?

I find myself doing that often when spring begins...so many of the seasons took place in warm weather, so I will pop in a season to have on in the background while I clean, cook, or work and just revel in all the amazing looks. Great post!

  8. THANK YOU SO MUCH for this post. I am so exausted from negative posts about how Parker looked in the Chanel for the Acandemy Awards. A woman does not need to be 6 feet tall (I thank God I am not) to look beautiful and stylish.I am with you on this one. She is a style diva!
