Inauguration Chic
The Runway to Change Inaugural Collection is hot off the runway. Those of us here in D.C. know that this place has just gotten a whole lot more stylish in the last few days! These are two great items to remember and commemorate the Inauguration in style. The t-shirt by Zac Posen for $45.00 and the scarf by Alexander Wang for $40.00 are my favorites. They are both available at runwaytochange.com. All items are Union Made in the USA.

Bring Back Hats-Please
I loved Aretha Franklin's hat at the Inauguration Ceremony-it had great aplomb. There is nothing that I would like better than to see hats become a more regular sight here in the U.S. than only at Easter, if then. I have a sense that hats may stage a comeback with the stylish Obamas in the White House. The Brits know how to do hats-in an upcoming post I will feature some incredible British milliners. But these, from the Royal Ascot (courtesy of the New York Times) are just great fun. Note the one with the wheel of Stilton! The Royal Ascot is one of the social and racing highlights of the British summer. Enjoy!

Camelot-With or Without Hats?
All of us in Washington, D.C. and indeed all of the world are atwitter with this historic inauguration. I keep wondering whether Barack and Michelle might wear hats to the Inauguration Ceremony-homage to the style and elegance of Jack and Jackie Kennedy and a return to the heady days of Camelot on the Potomac. Jack Kennedy was the last President to wear the traditional top hat to his Inauguration. Here are some lovely photos of their attire at the Inauguration Ceremony and the Inaugural Ball. Mrs. Kennedy's fashion designer was Oleg Cassini. (photos courtesy of Life.com and the John F. Kennedy Library and Museum).
