Green in Fashion
Green is such a vibrant and expressive color in fashion. It's elegant, timeless, sensual, and sharp. I love how striking Julianne Moore looks above. Green makes her red hair and porcelain skin pop. Green looks beautiful when paired with black, blue, orange, white, nude, pink, yellow. Such great possibilities! Here are a few of my favorite looks.
LOVE all the green. Todays post is actually about my fave kelly green dress. I think it goes really well with blue and gold (kind of peacock palette)
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous Tuesday! :)
...and that incredible green dress in the movie, Atonement. Iconic.
ReplyDeleteI love to see redheads in shades of green. Also lavender just pops on them.
I thought of you when they showed Alexander McQueen's gilded feather dress in the Post this past weekend. If I were a rich lady? I would buy that. That last collection of his is beyond belief. Priestess outfits or some obscure culture's royalty. Who will make us dream now?
What does this have to do with green? Not a thing. Just thinking of it.
Also, that Audrey Hepburn hat you use as an avatar is green and one of my all time favorites.
I was sitting here, again, thinking of green in movies beyond Atonement. Certainly Scarlett O'Hara's curtains. In Gosford Park, one of the characters wears a sad little green evening dress and the Maggie Smith character says something like,"Green. Such a difficult shade to wear," to be catty. In the Sex and the City movie, Carrie wears this green dress and coat while apartment hunting with Big. Adorable. Grace Kelly's green suit in Rear Window (and the white silk halter that goes with it...to die for.) Tippi Hedren in green in Marnie. Also the woman who plays "Miss Lonelyheart" in Rear Window wears green. Envy for those in love? Marilyn Monroe in green Pucci:

Now THAT one I looked up because I started thinking about color in film. Natalie Wood wore a ton of yellow in film. Yellow shows up a lot in Elvis films. Ann Margret wore a lot of fiery orange.
The mind wanders...
Thanks for showing us those pretty green outfits today.
Gorgeous post, darling!
ReplyDeleteLove all these runway looks!

First of all, I want to be Julienne Moore when I grow up. Secondly, green is my FAVORITE color -especially emerald or any jewel green! And lastly, I'd die for some gorgeous read hair!
ReplyDeleteI love a rich green, especially when I'm sporting auburn hair!
ReplyDeleteDagny- I love that green dress of yours. Too cute.
ReplyDeleteWashington Cube- Thank you for your wonderful comments. I had actually never seen Atonement and I looked up the green dress and it's exquisite. Green is such a powerful color in film.
ReplyDeleteCarrie- Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteScott- Of course you want to be Julianne. So do I. I think she's timeless. Green looks very dapper on men too.
ReplyDeleteAverill- Yep, red hair and green is a magical combo.
