Men's inspired shoes are a popular staple for the ladies this fall. These days dressing like a man has never been so "in." Stores can't keep boyfriend blazers, boyfriend jeans, and button-down shirts in stock. There's something very sexy, maybe even empowering about this trend. The other day while shopping at Nordstrom Rack I was lucky enough to find these black patent Miu Miu oxfords. They retail for $500 and were on a super sale for $90. I was thrilled to find these and for so cheap! Oxford/jazz shoes come in a variety of colors and styles. It's hard to pick just one. Chanel, Christopher Kane, and Phillip Lim have designed some very appealing oxfords. And of course, stores like Topshop and Nine West have come out with more affordable but just as noteworthy pairs. When I was a little girl I thought my black & white leather saddle shoes from Stride Rite were the cutest. They looked similar to these, but more simple. I went through so many pairs; they looked darling with almost everything. The same holds true for oxfords today. Dress them up or down. Wear them with wide leg trousers, skinny jeans, a dressy frock, a pleated skirt, the possibilities are limitless. Who can say no to such a versatile shoe?
These are fabulous! I was deciding between getting a new pair of ballet flats next week or this style and you've convinced me -- this one it is! (you found a wonderful pair!) I enjoy the variety from simple, clean lines, to bow detailed high-heel options. Now it's just deciding which one...
ReplyDeleteI like the more feminized versions shown here but straight up menswear is definitely not for me -- as someone who is 6' tall with broad shoulders it's quite the line between dressing androgynously and having people mistake you for a man!
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful-I want a pair in black patent with high heels.
ReplyDeleteSarah Klassen- I'm glad to have convinced you to buy a pair. Ballet flats are great-- I love them for work, but it's fun to have an alternative. It is very hard to choose. I'm really into the metallic ones myself.
ReplyDeleteAverill- The feminine, perhaps heeled ones (Anthropologie) would be better suited for you. You're right, the last thing a very tall woman needs is a pair of oxford flats!
ReplyDeleteStyle Redux 2- I bet Lanvin makes a cute all black patent oxford high heel.
ReplyDeleteI love the metallic bottom shoe! I also love the masculine style for women. A perfect balance, especially how cute with a full ruffled netted skirt~ You always show the best of the best!
ReplyDeleteThanks!

ReplyDeletethanks for posting these! lately i've been thinking about wingtip shoes and all of these are fabulous and inspiring. I especially like the Chanel one, haven't seen anything like them!
ReplyDeleteNora- I'm happy you like them. I think it's a terrific shoe. The Chanel are to die for.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter just bought the top shop ones this week. Love them.
