As if Conde Nast could be any more annoying, they have now shut down the Domino website. I hope everyone had a chance to save all of their favorite photos. This is a sad day!
This makes me very sad. I was just on the phone with Conde Nast yesterday because they never contacted me about what to do with me Domino subscription. I learned they've been DESPERATELY trying to contact me (yeah right) and that since I didn't respond, they signed me up for LUCKY.
Ugh. I begged the man to give me Bon Appetit instead and he switched me with a 14 month credit! :)
I just called Conde Nast and was told that they are still finalizing their plans and will send out cards to Domino subscribers in a couple of weeks detailing our options. Their treatment of Domino subscribers has been horrible-first shutting down the magazine, now the website, and no communication from them in over two months. A letter to each of us 2 months ago should have been the bare minimum. The final indignity-if you try to go to the Domino website it redirects you to Architectural Digest. I hate AD!
Seriously don't understand why the website couldn't be maintained. After all, just a few staff could really keep it going and I suspect the ad revenues from it would generate enough to support an online presence, even if there is no longer a print magazine.
We're saved! Sort of. Folks are collecting pics on Flickr so at least the images will be around! http://www.flickr.com/groups/dominomag/ SUCH a sad day. They could have kept the website up - if they're not generating new content, it would have cost virtually nothing to run!! Laziness.
Sanity Fair-Laziness and arrogance both I suspect. I down-loaded hundreds of pictures from Domino and I did see about the efforts on Flickr. I have also set-up a Domino file on Flickr under Style Redux and will put all mine on there as well.

ReplyDeleteOh, I hate AD too! That stinks. Anyway, I am glad we are at least being offered a choice.
ReplyDeleteNothing will replace Domino!
ReplyDeleteLike a stake throug the heart!
ReplyDeleteJ&J-Adding insult to injury.
ReplyDeleteI had really, really hoped this was an April Fool's joke...so, so depressing {sigh}
ReplyDeleteOn a lighter note - Congrats on 2nd place in the We Love Domino contest - You had my vote!!!
MLHP-Thanks and congrats to you as well. My daughter Kate and co-blogger won 3rd in the Whole Room for her dining room.

Averill-So true. I just think they are arrogant and clueless.
